We work with universities to provide employer-led dissertation projects that are bespoke to your course requirements. Students undertake their dissertation in the same way as a traditional dissertation, through primary and secondary research on a specific topic, but with one key difference: they are integrated into a real company throughout, working on a challenge that is directly relevant to that organisation.
Students meet with their company regularly and apply their academic knowledge to a real employer challenge. Every project is tailored to the students' degree programme and academic level.

Dissertation Projects - Our End-to-End Support

Through our simple 5-step process, we provide your institution with end-to-end support in organising guaranteed dissertation projects for your student.

Step 1 - We Co-Design the Projects With You
  • We start by understanding what your specific requirements are for implementing dissertation projects into your courses (e.g., start and end dates, types of projects required, learning outcomes and academic assessment)
  • Through our employer network, we'll then engage with companies who would be well placed to host your students on a project
  • Through conversations with companies, we'll define projects with them that are specifically designed to meet the requirements of your courses
Step 2 - We Onboard the Students
  • University students and staff will be onboarded onto the 'Impact Platform'
  • All students are assigned a dedicated ‘Experience Success Coordinator’, who is a member of staff at Impact Consulting who will introduce students to their company to organise the 1st meeting and will be available to students at any time during the experience, for additional support
Step 3 - The Dissertation Projects Begin
  • Students will have their 1st meeting with their company, which is also attended by their Impact Consulting 'Experience Success Coordinator'
  • Students can access e-learning training content, resources and templates through the Impact Platform to support them during their project
Step 4 - We Oversee the Projects
  • We remain available at all times during the projects, should any issues arise
  • University Staff will be able to track the live status of all projects through our Staff Portal, where they will also be able to view half way company feedback
Step 5 - We Ensure a Successful Completion
  • We’ll collect final company and student feedback and share with university staff
  • Students will receive a Certificate of Completion to support their future job applications

How is this different from a traditional dissertation?

The structure is the same, primary and secondary research on a defined topic, but students are embedded within a real organisation throughout. They have regular access to company data, staff and real-world challenges, which makes the work more applied and significantly more valuable from an employability perspective.

Can it count towards the student's degree?

Yes. The project is designed to meet your dissertation requirements, so students can complete it as part of their degree while gaining genuine industry experience.

We handle organisation sourcing, brief design and student coordination, and your team can oversee progress through the Staff Portal.
